I'm down in Portland, the rain has just started here as well. That's mainly what we worry about, but about once a winter or two we get a few days where it dips below freezing and the rain turns into ice. Usually pretty clear warning but it's a good idea to have a bit extra food and a plan if you can't drive. Down here main streets get cleared pretty quickly and the bus system's running the next day (even if a bit slow) but some side streets can stay iced over for a week if the sun doesn't cooperate.
I love the rain this time of year, it's wet but not cold yet, so I can soak it all up. I'm a desert rat by birth, everything comes alive when the monsoons start down there so rain's always cheered me up even though we never get a good scour-the-earth thunderstorm up here. I miss those.

That's good. Ice doesn't shut us down as much as it did ten years ago, but when it hits the city it hits ALL of the city. I remember one 10 years or so ago that left half an inch of ice on every surface. Incredibly beautiful if you didn't need to leave your room for anything.

Are those your winter glasses?
I spend more time inside drawing in the winter :)
Well now I don't think you need a cat - you seem to have turned into some sort of supercharged kitten!
If "Winter Mode" only has to deal with Rain, then I think I'm going to like living in the Pacific Northwest.

And with the Pacific Northwest's winter forecast is suppose to be drier than normal this winter, we might see less chances of icy weather.
