Congrats on the 'ding!'
Hey Hey! Congrats!
Yee Haw! Wtg Angela!
Yay! Do you have a higher resolution version of this? It looks like a lot went into this that got shrunk a little too far.
So many tasty gaming references! Lesse, there's WOW, what looks like Starcraft, Minecraft, Street Fighter, an FPS of some nature, Guitar Hero, and Carcassone? Mass Effect and then an Xbox achievement?
"FPS of some nature" is about as close as you'll be able to get, yeah :)
You're taking cover behind something, so might as well make it a good game. Uncharted it is!
Engineering + Gaming + Webcomic = Awesomeness!
To Celebrate, I think a medley of quotes from Kung-Fu Panda:
There is just news. There is no good or bad.
So you are the legendary Dragon Warrior, hmm?
Who filled your head with dreams? Who drove you to training until your bones cracked?
There is no charge for Awesomeness or Attractiveness
Fly back there and tell them... the real Dragon Warrior is coming home.
Get ready to feel the THUNDA!
Go ahead, Panda. Show us what you can do.
Normally I'd be all over the gaming references. However, I think the bigger congratulations is for your P.E. Way to go! I'm now rather envious as I don't think I have the focus/drive for that sort of thing. But from one engineer to another, take a few bows as I applaud your success!
I also think the delay for the comic this week was well worth the wait, it looks fantastic.
Love the Carcassonne reference :)
Congrats on your achievement!
Congrats on the P. Eng.
So they finally decided on a wording for those regulations that works. (There was a big court case several years back that ended up ruling that APEGBC couldn't certify new Professional Engineers until they changed the bylaws regarding experience. They used to be more or less "enough experience by our standards - 4 years is a good start, then we'll talk", but now they actually specify what's called for...to some extent... and the "approval of the council clauses are for special exemptions to normal procedure only.)
Quite possibly the biggest parenthetical ever.
Oh, and what's the "Blessing of the Elders" frame a reference to? That pixelated format looks familiar, but I don't know what game.
And sorry for the double post
Those are my previous supervisors, and it's a reference to old "16-bit games". And sort of a backhand reference to this comic (http://www.wastedtalent.ca/comic/press-start)
Ah. I figured it was the previous supervisors. I thought I'd seen graphics/art very much like that recently (in that it has narrow outlines for large pixels), but I guess not. And thanks for the link to that comic. I think I somehow missed it before.
Congratulations on getting the mighty P.Eng. What is the EIT time requirement it in B.C. now, 5 years, the same as Alberta? I am part of the old guard, got mine when it was only two years requirement.
4 years. That's what the level 4 ranking is a reference to.
Of course, it should be level 5, assuming you start at level 1 and not level 0. Being level 4 generally requires only 3 level-ups (which correspond to years in this case.) Yay overanalysis.
Congratulations! How are you celebrating?
I got new business cards
eh what? we can ding in real life?? i wanna try that sometimes~~
grats for the ding =)
I'm working towards a professional designation myself, but I'm sure getting one in Engineering is far more time-comsuming. I hope you enjoy whatever celebration you have, and best of luck to you and your continuing career climb!
Also, comic = win.
Pshh... that tile doesn't split his field! (Great comic btw!)
There is a penguin joke here, I just know it.
Congrats, also was this about that test Jam took in November
No that was a different certification but I got that one, too!
Wow, I remember each of your bosses from the archives. There's Mr. Code, TinyHead "Smash" McBigBody, Nature BMC, and Office Guy.
