It's about saving energy; the people in the ad cheered when the lights were turned off, hence saving the energy said lights had been using. :)

The only place I can think of is a ballroom. Like the kind you would find in a Disney film (Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, etc.)
I would love to see a commercial like that. Is it a real commercial that they're going to release or just an example they were using?

um, duh. haven't you ever gone to school? or like, any sort of function where if the lights go out it's dark? everyone. always. cheers. and stuff. common knowledge. but now you have a real reason!
well, if it's in class, more likely than cheering it'll be yells of "NAPTIME!!! WOO!!"

took me a few looks to get it. They are an energy saving company, so when the lights went out they were saving energy : ). Although somebody has probly already said this.
