I like the coffee place at BCIT. You get a discount when you bring your own mug, and you are the one doing the pouring of the coffee. It's much cheaper than any place else too.

The only thing is the coffee most of the time tastes like butt.

The coffee place (singular)? You poor, deprived BCIT-ers. Off the top of my head, I can think of 13 coffee places at UBC. And two of those are self-serve.

IS Starbucks on the black list? (Personally, I always go Timmie's. Or used to. There is a depressing lack of proper coffee places at Camosun.)

at my university (carleton) the best place to get coffee when timmies is full (we have 2 in one building and only 3 on campus? wtf?) is the best place to get anything, which is LEO's (the engineer-run (which is why the books are never balanced) volunteer cafe/convienience store) where everything is cheap, and good

I judge chain outlets on an individual store basis. Service and staff make allll the difference.

You people and your "Coffee Places", I get my coffee from wherever I can find it, usually the espresso machine at one of the food places scattered through the Engineering area of the campus, usually just black coffee no sugar. There are no chains of any type of store anywhere near campus... that is what we get for being a public university in a third world anti-American country... but you can't really complain about a good free education.

So why not just get two mediums?

They should have a way of calculating coffee prices other than Sm/Med/Lrg so those of us with weird-sized mugs don't suffer. My thermos is a bit smaller than a starbucks grande - if I order a grande even with "room", it overflows, but a tall is way too small!! :(

We have way more than one, I can think of 9 right now, but that's the somewhat "main" coffee place at BCIT. It's a student run coffee-only shop in the great hall, so I'm counting it as the main one.

but you're right, UBC definetally has more coffee shops than any other place, especially since they're almost the size of a small city.

Hmmm... some kind of miniature gas pump that is filled with coffee? I'm not sure if it would be extremely practical, but i think it would make an interesting novelty item.

I never blame the employees but the companies, I don't hate the individual but the system man, the system!

But yeah, I do wish more places did do a "Bring your own mug and get a discount" thing and they actually fill it up and price accordingly. I know of a few Starbucks that actually do that here but their coffee sucks, now the coffee at this one library, love it.

ALSO (this is getting longer than I planned) I wouldn't blacklist a place and not go to them, in fact I'd do the opposite, I'd be that annoying customer and keep going and complaining cuz eventually they'll get so tired of it they'll create a system like that, tends to be how they start, that or they'll ban me from the shop.

my university is a lot like that, it has (at last estimating) about 17 different cafes/stores which sell coffee (only three places on campus dont) and has 6 coffee only places. (i count timmy's as coffee only) we have NO starbucks, which i am glad for.

we actually have i believe 4 convenience stores, one run by housing, one run by engineering (cheapest and best), and the other two are just lame and i dont visit them.

we only have one arcade, which is extremely high priced. (but it has DDR) and we have our own train station.

its pretty big, with 8 res buildings, and a huge engineering building.

we also have a building that is the second tallest building in ottawa.

I don't get this! I work at an independant shop, and pretty much no matter what mug I get, I fill to the rim (unless they want room o' course) and even specialty drinks by me practically overflow. I went out with a friend once and there was TWO inches of room below the rim! In one of their cups to!

O///o Kay I've been waiting to rant about that for a while...

I understand your troubles, Jam... however, sometimes the people you're talking to have managers who will KEEL DEM if they give out more coffee than the customers pay for! An, there's no way to pay "extra coffee". (Yes I work at mcdonalds TT^TT I need a better yorb)
