Nothing shatters the myth that Canada is a total snow and ice zone than being in Vancouver. It did snow on December 13th 2005 - I remember it fondly because it was SO rare...

Both those pictures look like they could be at UBC. The blooming tree looks like one of the trees on Lower Mall in the spring, and the beach looks like Wreck Beach in the spring or summer.

VANOC might still be trying to convince us it's winter, but Mother Nature got bored of that season already. Perhaps we should be proud that we're hosting the very first Spring Olympics!

Brittanic: They are trucking and helicoptering in snow from Manning park, I think. And then burying metal tubes filled with dry ice under the snow. Awesome.

Pokota, in the first panel they are riding by on their bikes on the left side.
As for winter we just got an extra foot, or so it seems, in MN on Monday. All the yards and places with snow drifts make it look like we have 2 1/2 feet total of snow, it's really weird. Lately in past years we have had NO SNOW and then two days of winter craziness.

At least you guys have decisive weather. The weather in California has been more like "Haha, they said it would be sunny today. Yeah... no. RAIN RAIN HAS COME TO STAYYYY" than anything else. xD

I'm just hoping what little snow is on Cypress isn't washed away by the rain. Haha Honestly, I never thought the whole Vancouver Olympics really worked... I mean, it is Vancouver! City of Rain! Not snow...

I've been told the climate of Vancouver proper is pretty similar to the climate of my city (Nantes, western France), i.e. oceanic, rainy (usually gentle showers), with mostly moderate temperatures, few very cold days and few very hot days. I assumed the proximity to the Coast Mountains, which break the oceanic influence on their east side, was what made Vancouver a fitting host for Winter Games. Was I wrong?
@Schmorgluck - We rarely get snow in the city proper but it's even warmer than usual for this time of year. We definitely got the games for the mountains, and the fact that we already had some good stadiums built.

Bah, I wish I had some snow right about now. Pretty much EVERY county around me is out of school, and I am in that ONE that never closes. Ah, Jim McIntyre, how I look forward to killing you.

So true with the comic. Of course, the local mountains don't have any snow, and good luck getting to Whistler this year.
A little tip to any potential ski tourists. Whistler is great and all, but the really good BC skiing is in the Okanagan(Sun Peaks, Silver Star and Big White being the biggest three.)

I'm so jealous. We just got a ton of snow, and of course I live in one of those places where businesses and schools don't close until there's like 12 feet so snow isn't even exciting. I cannot wait for warm weather.

@bilbroxain: Normally I'd agree with you on that. Except for the fact I am a native Virginian and I actually know how to drive in this annoying weather. Everyone else on the road are retards...even if it's only drizzling rain.

I wish I was still in Canada...
Florida is suuuuuch a bland area of the continent...
No distinct seasons whatsoever D:>
Isn't the snowboarding being held on Cypress? Might that not be difficult with spring like conditions?

It's going to be the best Summer Olympics ever!

Vancouver can have some of Pittsburgh's snow! Nearly 3 feet in the past week!
or course the first time since 1988 that Canada has the Olympics and the trees mess it all up.
So, is your Fiance holding his nephew or something?
well thers lots in saskatchewan, and when i was on victoria island in december it was more green than it was in july. funny.
Bah. Tourists. >.<
i would love to be there i am stuck by chicago and i am starting to want the snow to die!

I guess I'm not the only one who feels like Winter never really hit this year. Are you referencing our national anthem in the name of this comic?

At least the weather is cold out there... I'm melting here in Brazil

That looks SO much nicer than all the frozen precipitation that's outside my window fight now! :)
Take some of our snow PLEASE! I think it got sent to Virginia by mistake. It belongs in Vancouver

I agree with Hanners. Snow in Virginia was a total mistake. Especially since native Virginians don't know how to drive in it.

OH! It's raining. Is it snowing in the mountains maybe?

Also. Yes, take this snow away. Job sucks with it around. lol
