Its a delicious and deadly fruit. Grenades were originally based off the idea of the inside of a pomegranate. also very yummy and worth all the efforts
The best way to get those awesome little podlings out of the fruit is to actually separate it under water, the waxy white stuff will fall to the bottom wile your seeds of happiness float to the top.

Love Pomegranates! I eat them outside with my dog (yes he eats them too..kinda) but when I come back inside my hands are all red and I'm covered in juice. I act like I'm a vampire and just attack the pomegranate. Done it every year for the past...five years. haha

Would make sense "Grenade" is French for pomegranate. In other news, there's a smirnoff twister flavor called "Pomegranate Fusion". In French: "Fusion Grenade"
The best way to get the seeds out of a pomegranate is to cut it in half with a big knife, and then submerse it in a pot of cold water. You can easily pop out the seeds with your fingers, and the white membrane things float up so they're also easy to get rid of! Also the seeds don't burst. Pour through colander/strainer thingie when your done and voila! Painless Pomegranate=Achieved!

A while ago I used an online translator to find out what piña colada meant. The result was strangely applicable to these comments. It chose the colloquial Spanish usage and instead of pineapple, came up with 'strained hand grenade'.
To further tie into the comments, that is the same root that the word colander comes from.
Being an engineer at heart, I just tested the two competing float separation hypotheses: white stuff floats, seeds sink.
See, the trick is to cut through the rind until you reach that last thin layer over the seeds, then pull it back slowly. I've never had a pomegranate blow up on me, but a bag of frozen rasberries did once :)
Pomegranates are so awkward to eat, each part is tasty but doesn't contain enough of the delicious flavour, but if you take a big mouthful the seed taste gets in the way D:

Passion fruit is better
I remember my friend once munched on the innards of a pomegranate like a crazy person. I asked if he was drunk. He wasn't.

I always wondered why the french translation of pomegranate was grenade. Now I know. -learnings!-

Everyone is saying these things about the grenade being based on the fruit, that is too crazy! It makes the fruit WAY MORE AWESOME.

Jam, you rock ^_^
Looks like you're holding on to a beating heart...
I quite like the Pear myself. Oh, and I'm quite fond of bananas... in a heterosexual way.
I love pomegranets ^^
What's that green thing behind the couch? Maybe a bean-bag chair? Or is something growing back there?

Haha, next time you might wanna yell "Fire in the hooole!" to warn Trevor! ;D
Haha - it might not be so dang much fun if it weren't so dang dangerous! :)
I LOOOOOVEEEEE THEM!!!!!
I knew there was a reason we named a handy shrapnel-exploding device after pomegranates.
I spank them.
Wait, no that's not a euphemism! Like on Iron Chef, just cut them in half, hold over a bowl, and beat the outside with a serving spoon or something.
At lest it doesn't happen with everything you pull. I am not allow near champagne because of that.
I've had that happen!

I haven't had pomegranates in a long time. I seem to recall they stain pretty bad.
hey Jam glad you found that fact interesting, and i think that the pomegranate is the Chuck Norris of fruits.

@deserthare: Indeed it is XD
