Nah
My dad got the sniffles a few weeks ago and phoned work saying he should stay at home because he wasn't sure if it was actual swine flu or not. The eyes of everyone else were rolling in this house.
I don't work yet so no idea, but it seems like it would be fun to try and convince someone to do this in a public area just to see the reactions, does that make me a bad person?
@Rah: Yes, yes it does...and we're ok with that! XD
Everyone stand back! She's gonna kill us all!!!!!
Wanna know the scary thing. there are three swine flu vaccines. One that is taken through the nose which is a live vaccine AKA the virus itself. so people who get it actually become carriers, a shot that contains mercury, and a shot that is safe. i know this cause my fiancee is in the medical field
Haha, I work in a microbiology research lab, and everyone's still paranoid about the swine flu. Even though we're working with biohazardous viruses and bacteria, and all sorts of other stuff (where we don't wear gloves or labcoats),the flu still scares the crap outta my coworkers.
We're weird like that.
It's amazing that people still react like that. Over here in Australia, swine flu has pretty quickly moved from the public eye.
BWA-HA-HA-HA!
@debaser, no offense but all the shows here in the U.S. seem to make Australia seem like the land of death where traveling from your bed to the bathroom can kill you... swine flu doesnt seem so bad from that angel lol
My work is the opposite. We all seem to *want* to get the Piggy so we can call in sick and get it over with xP
I would hack and cough just to mess with everyone. But then again, I am demented...
Ha! Yeah, I bet H1N1 is not even an option on that machine! ;)
My workplace slathers everything in a sticky gooey layer of lysol and anti-bacterial stuff.
I live in that cesspool of disease known as a university residence hall. I believe we've already had more than a hundred confirmed cases of swine flu on our campus. No one really bats an eyelash to this stuff anymore here :D
Oh God, my school is JUST like this. Over half of the students have already had Swine Flu, so now everyone is paranoid about it. Anytime -ANYONE- coughs, it is announced that "Swiner" is present in the room, and the cougher is in social exile for a week. It is very cruel, but honestly, if you have had it, you would be paranoid too. It feels like being hit by a bus, then that bus continues backing up over you.
Alberta seems to have a gag order on the press. It's actually turning out to be a good idea as most of the population seems much calmer without the death count looming over them. Didn't even realize that there was one till I got out to Ontario where they have a running death tally for all the provinces broadcast constantly. We've had 3 cases in the office that I know personally and they're all fine.
Better not be. *pout* If you had the swine flu everyone would be super sad.
I am pretty amazed I didn't get flu'D at that dang Skytrain party, we were pretty much asking for it.
Interestingly, no one at my work has gotten the piggy flu yet. Though if someone does, I bet it will spread quickly due to the 30 or so of us being in a rather small, poorly ventilated room.
We have had one co-worker who actually had H1N1, and another apparently had the 'tail end' of it...though I'm not sure I believe that one. Almost everyone is way too worried, it get a bit annoying each time someone sneezes or coughs or mentions they don't feel too well. lol
@Des
I duno how often you read the newspaper here, but they have the deathcount here xP
It's very Dramtic and Silly imo.
Headline for the Metro: "RECORDS HIT AN ALL HIGH WITH 26 IN ALBERTA DEAD!"
I think we ingore it more than everyone else.
I mean if someone had it in the other provinces it would either be a) Lose 20% of there population with the death or B) Mass Spread due to how crowded everyone is xP
Yes, I work retail and cough or sneeze and people look at you like you have the plague
I got the Swine flu, it wa no problem besides the slight throwing up I got. The main flu lasted for about 3 days and I still have a cough 2 weeks later. Its more like a buildup of Phlegm, DELICIOUS!
I have no phobia of germs since I have a good immune system so I get really annoyed of when people shy away from me especially friends, I keep moving closer to them and I love it!
OOhhhh man, I so hear ya!
They are Super psycho at PSU/PCC right now, to the level of "Hint of sickness, you are GONE! ... From the particular class, go home"
That reminded me... during the SARS scare way back when the easiest way to get to the front of any line up was to appear to be asian and cough.
That EXACT same thing happened to me at work just the other day. Granted, it was asked jokingly. (...I think.)
Oh memories! I worked on the Swine Flu ward at major state hospital when hit Australia during the winter and discovered that people give you a VERY wide berth once you mention where you work!
In my school it's like that XD
I love your mug! Is it real or just made up for the comic?
