Kayla asks: Q: If you--the major problem-solvers out there--could chose any major world problem to fix what would it be? You can choose anyone to work with, no time limits or budget constraints. Actual PLANS to fix these problems need not be included. I just want to know what you engineers think are the biggest and most worthwhile problems out there in the world that you'd like to wrangle if given free reign! :)
I’m a MechE student, and I love it - even the homework that makes you stay up all night. Unfortunately, I have despised the two engineering companies I've co-oped with. I love school, but I hate the corporate environment. Is there anywhere I can still be an engineer, but get out of the horrible cubiclefarms?
…you actually stumped a few of us with that question, Neil!
Many of our previous questions have demonstrated the breadth of engineering as a discipline, but I think this month’s question has finally revealed what we all have in common. “Just give us an interesting problem to solve and we’ll be happy.”
We got so many amazing volunteers for our Ask an Engineer panel; from all disciplines and industries, all around the world! I’m amazed and honoured, so thank you to everyone who wrote in. I had to do some ridiculous editing to make this fit the blog, everyone’s full answers are worth a read and you can get them in this handy pdf!
NEW BLOG FEATURE! Lots of you seem to be interested in Engineering-Related things for the blog. Being only one person (and a young one at that!) I have a limited view of the profession. So I asked my dad and my friend Trian if they'd be willing to help me out. My dad replied "I have no shortage of opinions."
SO I'D LIKE TO INTRODUCE OUR NEW FEATURE: ASK AN ENGINEER!
