My friend Claire just told me a lovely story about her triplets that made me wonder about a 'engineer gene':
"I was reminded this morning of a deep philosophical discussion that the triplets had on their way home from nursery one winter's day when they were about three and a half:
K (wonder and awe): Mummy, did God really make EVERYTHING?
J (the logical): If God made everything, who made God?
S (full of certainty): God didn't make lamp-posties.... Engineers made lamp-posties."
That's born engineers, right there!
