Double Whammy: Fast Food and Music

So I have two topics I wish to talk about.

First, it appears that I'm not doing too well with fast food. Now, I usually have no problem with fast food unless I eat too much, but lately I started getting full/sick of it a lot earlier. This trend has continued and now I get three bites into a burger and have to call it quits because it makes me feel physically ill. In fact, a lot of the time lately I've been feeling sick simply looking at it. Only certain things, though. I can eat chocolate and drink soft drinks, no problems. Fries are generally fine too, as is most Asian cuisine. Except certain types of noodles. If it has chilli sauce in it I get a spoonful done and then have to resist throwing up. It sucks, as it's the only food available on campus apart from sushi. So now I have to take lunch with me, which makes me look like a right twat. With chocolate, I'm generally fine, unless it's something like a Mars Bar or Picnic or something. I know I'm not actually allergic, I know that much, I've just been feeling very ill from it, that's all.

Next topic is much better. I've been listening to a lot of different music lately. Well, music that's different from my standard stuff. I usually stick to rock and the like (AC/DC, Relient K, whoever else) but lately I've been listening to a lot more softer stuff. I blame Apple because it seemed to be triggered with their ad for the Macbook Air, which I heard the song (New Soul by Yael Naim) and that led me on to Yael Naim's other stuff and now I'm listening to Josh Groban, and I love it. Why did no-one tell me of him before? Seriously, I love, love, love the song Oceano by him especially. It just seems so, well, epic. I have to admit, though, that I've always been a sucker for orchestral music and singers like him (The Opera-esque, but not quite style). Anyone got any recommendations?

Well, I'm somewhat new to the forums, but I'll throw my two American cents.

On your first topic: have you gone to the doctor lately? It might be a problem with your stomach. Besides that, try to eat really healthy for about a week. If you're a student or someone really really busy with things, it might be tricky. Oh, and there's no problems with bringing in your own lunch. At least you know it'll be safe to eat.

Second topic: I love that Macbook Air commercial. So simple and yet genius. The song New Soul in the background is addicting, so much that my gf decided to download and store it in the "Makin' Din" soundtrack.

With music recommendations, I always recommend the CD "Give Up" from The Postal Service. Every now and then, I'll hear one of their songs in the background of a commercial. (M&M's, for example.)

Hope you feel better, Yoshimoto.

Newness doesn't matter ^_^ Welcome to the forums!

I totally can't do greasy food anymore. Every once in a distant while I get in a weird mood for a classic McD's cheeseburger, but I get about halfway through before I regret it. Pan-Asian cuisine is out, I can't stomach that stuff at ALL. Sunday I had a really hard craving for the pizza that they make in Brooklyn. Suffice it to say I didn't get it, and the "little Caesar's" pizza didn't cut it. AT ALL. They are now on my blacklist for Pizza. Blech. I miss Panago ;_;

This week I'm into Evren (but I can only get one song), Scissor Sisters, Teddybears, Feist... I'm also kind of obsessed with this group from Montreal. Their music is only in iTunes though ;__; is there any way to get regular MP3s out of that?

I am the same way with Indian food but with any other food i am perfect with. I also only go to Mickey D's if i have to. Although I
love their milkshakes...something has to be wrong with me. Josh Kelly and Maroon 5 are some good soft music.

Oh and going to a doctor isn't a bad idea.

Ooo, do recommend some.

I am in great poverty, as far as good Indian restaurants go. I don't get many chances to go trying them.

First welcome marinaca.
And Indian food is really good. I got to hang out with some poeple at college from India and they cooked all the time. I soo miss college....

That being said. It sounds like you need to do a detox, Yoshimoto. I have had the same problem and basically what I did to solve it as to drink a hella-lot of water, and eat a simple diet for a few weeks. Now simple does not mean bland either. Here is recipe for baked potato soup that is a good detox food and is awesome especially when it is cold. the only problem is that it makes a LOT of soup. somewhere near 12 servings. But it does freeze well.

(sorry they are not in metric)
5 niced sized baking potatoes, pre baked or microwaved
1/3 cup flour
1/3 butter
salt
pepper
bacon bits
16oz cheese
4oz sour cream

first bake and scoop out the meat (insides) of the potatoes
melt the butter in a large soup pan
once melted, stir in the flour and keep stiring while cooking for a minute
then slowly pour the milk and continue stirring until it begins to thinken
stir in potatos, and most of the cheese and bacon bits
add salt and pepper to taste. let simmer for 10 minutes stirring
add sour cream and continue cooking until heated (sour cream cools the soup off)
pout into bowl and top with some of the remaining bacon bits and cheese.

to reheat by adding milk and microwave.

Welcome Marinaca!

And despite what you all assumed, I barely ever eat unhealthy food. My diet usually consists of vegetarian stir fry, spaghetti bog, veggies, fruit and things like chicken and fish. I eat enough red meat, but my diet is pretty much what they recommend for detox :P On top of that, I consume roughly four litres of water every day (I've got two 1.5L bottles I have every day, and another 750mL one) so that's not the problem. It's weird, because it seems to change what I can and can not eat at times. Yesterday I wasn't able to take three bites from a burger, today it was no problem.

Oh well, I go to the doctor every year anyway (I get sick annually, usually round the start of Winter) and there's nothing really wrong. I'll just live without junk food. Not that it worries me, because I much prefer eating veggies and fruit.

Sorry if i sounded like I assumed. I just know the hectic life these days do not offer the best choices some days. I was actually thinking that it is not a question of eating healthy but eating one thing that just did not agree with your system and trying to detox that one thing out.
