I'm not so sure how much I'll be able to help with this, but to any guitarists who are reading this....  http://tinyurl.com/knbdzo  is a much better tab than the one she posted.

I'm going to get an image of this out of guitar pro for any pianists who may be reading as well (it's a tab/sheet music program if you don't know. so It'll put things into something you should be able to understand)

I'd be better at the video mashing,  but if Guy can get piano sheetmusic done I might be able to provide you with a piano, flute and/or violin version of the music

The guitar ones I posted earlier have sheet music, unfortunately it's only the treble clef. So... work maybe? the song is a bunch of chords mostly.

I'd work on it today, but I've got a ton of stuff going on (like father's day dinner and a really annoying English paper) but when I get the time, I'll try to get 3 different versions up.... one an electric with distortion, a clean electric and  an acoustic.

Good luck guys.

The bass looks incredibly easy to play, but it's hard to hear in the song. I'll give it a try and see what I can do with it.

Video editing is right up my ally! I'm just gonna have to wait untill I have the videos.

Some pictures of the bride and groom together would be a nice thing to put in the video too!

I play bass regularly, and would love to contribute and be a part of this! (Enough to make me register, it seems..)

In my own egotistical opinion, I'm concerned about the possibility of clashing instrumental parts, even among the best entries. In fact, I'm tempted to wait for Heavy Props Guy to upload his guitar parts so I can synch with. The urge to add personal embellishments to a piece is a powerful one, but it doesn't always serve the song better.

I'm conflicted now, since the original bass part is too plain for me to not want to add some 'salt & pepper' to it. Or maybe ketchup. Or chocolate sauce. With whipped cream... n'mebbe a cherry.

..hungry now >_<;

I think this is a great idea and I'm delighted to be able to contribute to it. I agree with Alphy when he says that synching all the different music may be quite difficult. It would be great if someone could put down a drum track and then we could all match that but that may not be possible in the time limit. I'd do it myself but most of my music equipment is out in my parents house as my apartment neighbours probaly wouldn't appreciate drums and a 80W guitar amp and I probaly won't be out there before the 27th. I've decided to contribute some guitar + vocals and hope that they are usable. I might do another version when there is more up in order to get them to synch up better but it depends on how much time I have free. I figured it was best to post something and get the ball rolling. The link for the video is:

My name is Joey Doyle and I'm from Dublin.

Many thanks to Heavy prop Guy for the sheet music. It sounds much better when played like that and it is also much easier to play. Can't wait to see the other contributions.

I can totally see how getting the syncing right would be tough, but it would be even tougher if no one submitted. Thank you so much for taking the plunge,  JOEY!!! :D :D

Joey it's soooo goood!!! Thank you so much! Everyone, it's a big download, but if you're trying to match it it's worth it :)

Ok, now that that's done with.... Time to work on it. I have a camera, but it only does .MOV . Do you guys want me to use this, or just give you 3 different mp3s?

I think it'd be good to do 1 video of yourself playing with either the mp3 or Joey's rendition, then an isolated mp3 with just the instrument you're playing for easier mixing later on. But if you intend to submit more than 1 instrument, I don't know if you'd want to record 1 video per instrument, or do your own mash up.

I can help you convert and upload your .MOV files, if you like. Stuck in the office tonight, so I'll only be able to get to that tomorrow... I'll throw a mock up with my bass too, but with slightly bad quality since I'm only getting a proper recording mic on Saturday. Maybe someone will have a drum track up by then =P

Oh, and almost forgot: a bit rough, but very nicely done Joey! =D

I make this to be 128 bpm throughout. Perhaps we would be better off working to metronomes/click tracks and then having them pieced together? This would also allow whoever is mixing to use takes from one part of the song in another if necessary.

Sorry I haven't been able to see your video Joey, the site is a bit of a maze and then it said I couldn't download it :-( I will try later!

I would be happy to mix some audio but I don't know much about video. Perhaps if somebody has a video mash they are pleased with I could help put together some slick corresponding audio?

I can record some synths, guitar and/or trombone. I can sing but I'm not sure my voice would suit this song...

I can probably repost the video tonight ^^ I plan to lump them all together in a massive *zip file for the video editors to download. It will sock my bandwidth but hopefully there aren't THOUSANDS of you downloading it... right guys? ... right?

I'm afraid all I have is a flute. I can play fairly decently (Compared to someone without a flute :P), but I haven't got a composer bone in my body. If someone floats me a flute/C-part music (unless I missed it eariler) I can give it a try...

I'm putting together a guide click track for people to use. I overestimated the tempo a little, 126.7 bpm fits well, but starts to fall apart towards the end. I think they speed up very slightly, and recorded without a metronome.

I can either:

Make a click track based on the original recording (little advantage over playing with recording, except for including a lead-in and cues)

Make a click track at a steady bpm (this means that we can't work with the original recording, but makes recording and editing much simpler)

Ok, here's a click at 126.7 bpm. I added some cues for the sections. I find when playing with a click it's very reassuring to know you are in the right place! It gets out a little towards the end but basically stays with the original track. Still, it would be better for people to stay with the click ;-)

Have a flute score!

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/615430/Flute%20score.pdf

I put a line in the intros to hint at the verses, some harmony in the verses, and doubling the vocals in the chorus. Let me know if there's an issue with range or clef...

Oh, and sorry about the long notes, I know it's a bit brutal. Still, it beats endless high trills :-P

That is amazingly awesome. While the low notes are going to push me hard and the key is wonky, nothing that I can't handle. I'd almost like to consider popping it up an octave, but then we hit my biggest problem: I seem unable to place the notes in teh actual song (using the youtube link). This may just be my being out of practice (Only started playing again recently for a community band, first time in about five years >.>), but could ya hit me with a hammer of subltey and lemme know what I need to be listening to in the video?

Also, just to clarify so I'm sure: The first two measures are physically omitted just to make the rest of the pages line up, right? >.>

I put it in "Treble clef plus octave" for most of it, so the lowest note is F above middle C in bar 59. You could put just that section up the octave if you like. If you prefer to read straight treble clef with lots of ledger lines I can do a version like that, but flautists I know prefer treble+8 where possible.

The hidden two measures are the two bars in of clicks on my guide track. The score starts at the beginning of the intro. Sorry, I was going to add section names, but Logic makes this unnecessarily awkward. The first verse starts on bar 11. From bar 31 you're doubling the lead vocal. Hope that helps!

(YAY I can login now.)

Yeah okay, I'm a raging idiot. I relooked over the music and finally noticed the 8 over the clef. *hangs head in shame* Unless I missed a note, looks like the highest is an above-the-staff F, then. Easy enough. I've got practice tonight, so I'll probaby go ahead and give this a shot tonight. My laptop seems to be unable to find the built-in webcam, but I'll fight with it this evening.

To the video side of everyone there are quite a few great tools available to you all. If you have "funny formats" which you need to convert to something more usable, there is Avidemux (open source).

http://tinyurl.com/q8mz

It's really good and very versatile for conversion.

For NLE/Non-linear Editing, there is Sony Vegas (which while a commercial product, has a 30 day trial that is fully functional). Find it here: http://tinyurl.com/yl5qhp5

It's pretty straight forward and has all the goodies necessary to assemble the video needs. Hope this helps. I'll try my hand at the video part :)

None too smooth, but it's just a rough draft. I'll do better when I get that mic, I promise! (tell me if the links don't work o_o)

Video: http://www.filedropper.com/aheadbyacenturybassdraft

Bass-Only WAV: http://www.filedropper.com/p1010003

Also, I'm wondering if it would be easier on the video editors if I recorded separate parts, like repeating riffs and fills, for them to paste together. Doing so would also make it easier for me to record to imrae's click track and be more consistent, which, admittedly, isn't one of my stronger points. What do you guys think? =O
